Undead Defense Tycoon 2 Recommended upgrade path
Click this order and ignore painted walls until you own an M60.
This upgrade path is the default spend spine for Undead Defense Tycoon 2. It is the getting started ladder plus midgame. Skip a step only if a care package already gave you something better (Drone, Railgun, AUG).
Path
- Join Box Games, rejoin, take Sten — links.
- Walls / barriers, then second floor.
- SMG $40 if Sten is missing, else keep Sten.
- Assault Rifle $130 → AK-47 $2.62k.
- Minefield $9k (then 19k / 29k as cash allows).
- Sentry $38k. Optional Auto-Fill pass later.
- Tommy $7.22k only if M60 is still far; otherwise save.
- M60 $17k. You are now a player.
- Finish remaining combat floor guns you actually use (SPAS, .50 Cal). Skip Katana.
- Garage building (ATV optional). Do not dump spawn fees on Tank yet.
- Weapons Lab unlock — Weapons Lab.
- Laser Rifle before Plasma Sword.
- Mercenary pad, then level 3 before 5.
- Helipad / Attack Helicopter or Missile Truck, then Devastator.
- Colorizer, extra lights, flame tank pass — cosmetics.
Why this order
Mines restock free; Jeep does not. Sentry covers AFK; Katana does not. Lab gates heli. Merc stairs are a hole — base defense — so they come after you can shoot what climbs them. King fights before step 8 are “hide in the plot” fights — King Zombie.
Pass inserts
Economics+ can slide in anywhere after step 4. Super/Rocket Sentry insert when those pads appear, not at step 1 — gamepasses.
Hardcore insert
Same path, slower because Alphas eat you. Do not start Hardcore at step 2.
If you are already rich
Jump to the first incomplete step. Use the cash planner to see whether $649k is a Plasma Sword or a merc + Laser Rifle. Weapon tiers break ties.
This path will look boring next to a 100k Robux montage. It also finishes the fortress, which is the actual game — how to play.
Branching without breaking the spine
- Crate Drone early: keep the path, treat Drone as extra sentry, do not skip mines.
- Crate Railgun early: you may contest King sooner; you still need walls.
- Economics+ bought: you may jump Tommy→M60 faster; do not jump to Plasma Sword.
- No group Sten: add SMG, do not add extra melee.
- Friends with a Tank: you can delay your own Tank, not your own sentry.
If a green pad is not on this list, it is decoration, a duplicate gun, or a spawn fee. Walk around it. The cash planner names the expensive traps. Weapon tiers name the guns worth stepping on.
Re-read this page after a update that touches pad prices. The order (survive → spray → AFK → Lab → air/armor) is older than any single price.
Write the next three pads on paper before you load in. If a friend dumps a Tank at your garage while you are still on wood walls, borrow the ride, do not copy the spend. The path is selfish on purpose: your Sten, your mines, your M60. Shared King cash is a bonus after step eight, not a reason to skip sentries. If you fall off the path, the cash planner is the recovery sheet — count what you own, jump to the first missing combat pad, and leave the Colorizer glowing and unclicked.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Should I buy the Tank at step 6?
No. Sentry and M60 first. Tank spawn fees are a trap while walls are weak.
Where does King fit?
After M60, or earlier only if you stay home with mines.
Can I skip Lab?
You can skip Photon Repeater. Do not skip the Lab building if you want a heli.
Is this for Hardcore too?
Yes, just later. Alphas punish anyone who rushes stairs and Jeeps.
